Why Buy a Storage Container From XCaliber?

A shipping container is the cheapest square footage you can put on a piece of ground: eight feet wide, Corten steel, a marine-plywood floor, and doors that lock. XCaliber stocks them in two conditions. One-trip units crossed the ocean once with cargo and arrive near-new. Wind-and-watertight units have been in service, show some wear, and cost less; the doors and seals are inspected so what goes inside stays dry. Here is what wind-and-watertight means in practice.

Because we modify containers in our own Texas shop, you can order the box the way you actually need it: roll-up doors for daily access, side-open walls for forklifts and long material, double doors on both ends, shelving, vents, lighting, or full insulation and HVAC. Delivered pricing is calculated for your ZIP code, and financing is available.

Sizes, Doors & Conditions

10′ Standard

Fits where a car would park. The compact choice for backyards, tight lots, guard-shack duty, and small equipment.

20′ Standard & High-Cube

The workhorse. Eight feet wide, 8′6″ tall (9′6″ in a high-cube), roughly 1,170 cubic feet of lockable space.

40′ Standard & High-Cube

Twice the length for bulk inventory, pallets, long material, and equipment that will not fit anywhere else.

One-Trip (New)

Shipped overseas once with cargo, then sold. Near-new paint, floors, seals, and doors.

Wind-and-Watertight (Used)

Cargo-grade containers that have been in service. Inspected doors and seals, some cosmetic wear, a lower price.

Door Options

Standard cargo doors, double doors on both ends, full or partial side-open walls, or roll-up doors for daily in-and-out.

Climate-Controlled

Insulated units with HVAC for inventory, electronics, records, and anything else that should not bake through a Texas summer.

Secure by Design

Corten steel walls, a marine-plywood floor, and a padlock lockbox. Add shelving, vents, or lighting in our shop.

Commercial & Jobsite Storage Containers

Contractors, plants, warehouses, schools, and municipalities buy containers for the same reason: a locked steel room that goes where the work is and does not need a building permit to be useful. Tool and material storage on active sites. Inventory overflow next to the dock. Parts and MRO cribs in the yard. Seasonal, event, and disaster-recovery storage that can be moved again when the season ends.

For daily access, a roll-up door beats swinging cargo doors open in the wind. For pallets and long material, a side-open unit lets a forklift load straight in. Buying more than one? Ask about multi-unit pricing and fleet builds.

Home, Ranch & Property Storage Containers

A container on the property does what a storage unit across town cannot: it is fifty feet from the back door, it costs nothing per month once you own it, and nobody else has a key. Garage overflow, feed and tack, deer-lease gear, the tools that outgrew the shed, a renovation staged out of the weather, or a workshop you can lock and walk away from. Shipping Containers in Farm and Ranch Operations has more ideas for working land.

Most homeowners land on a 20′. A 10′ fits where a car would park, and a 40′ covers a small-business inventory or a serious shop. One-trip units look new on day one; wind-and-watertight units save money when the container is going behind the barn. Both arrive on a tilt-bed truck and set down on a level gravel, timber, or concrete pad. Here is what to have ready.

Specialty Storage Containers

Some jobs need more than a steel box with cargo doors. XCaliber’s specialty storage line covers the three requests we hear most: climate-controlled units, insulated and HVAC-equipped for inventory, records, electronics, and anything that should not sit in a container at 140 degrees; roll-up door units for shops, yards, and docks where the door opens every day and swinging cargo doors get in the way; and the brush guard build for ranch and remote sites where a roll-up door needs protection from cattle, equipment, and weather. Need a different layout, a second door, or a bigger unit? Custom Builds handles it.

One-Trip vs. Wind-and-Watertight: Which Should You Buy?

Delivery & Service Area

XCaliber delivers storage containers nationwide. Containers arrive on a tilt-bed truck that backs in, tilts, and slides the unit onto your pad, so the driver needs a straight, level approach and room to pull forward. Once your order is confirmed, our logistics team contacts you to schedule your delivery date. Delivered pricing on every product page is calculated for your ZIP code. See Delivery & Logistics for clearance requirements and pad preparation.

Storage Container FAQ

What sizes of storage containers do you sell?

10′, 20′, and 40′ containers in standard (8′6″) and high-cube (9′6″) heights, plus occasional 53′ units when we have them in stock. All are 8′ wide. Shipping Container Sizes and Types breaks down the dimensions.

A one-trip container was shipped overseas once with cargo and then sold, so it arrives near-new. A wind-and-watertight container has been in cargo service for several years; it shows cosmetic wear but is inspected so the doors open, close, and seal against the weather. Wind-and-watertight units cost less.

Price depends on size, condition, options, and where it is going. Every product page shows delivered pricing for your ZIP code, so you can compare real numbers without calling. Financing is available.

On a tilt-bed truck. The driver backs in, tilts the bed, and slides the container onto your pad. You need a straight, level approach with room for the truck to pull forward. See Delivery & Logistics for clearance details.

A level spot on gravel, railroad ties, concrete blocks, or a slab, with clear access for the truck. Containers do not need a foundation; keeping the corners off bare dirt helps the floor last. How to Prep Ground for Shipping Container Placement covers pad options in detail.

Rules vary by city, county, and HOA. Many rural properties have no restrictions; some cities treat containers as accessory structures. Check with your local building office before delivery.

The walls and doors are Corten steel, and the doors lock with heavy bar latches. Most one-trip units include a lockbox that shields the padlock; lockboxes can be added to any container.

Yes. Shelving, vents, lighting, electrical, insulation, windows, and personnel doors are all available through Custom Builds.

Decades. Corten steel is designed to resist corrosion, and a container that stays off bare ground with its drain holes clear will outlast most sheds. Moisture is the one thing to manage; see The Impact of Condensation in a Shipping Container.

Most homeowners choose a 20′ standard container. A 10′ fits where a car would park, and a 20′ high-cube adds headroom for shelving. Choose one-trip if the container will be visible from the house or street.
